Beauty of Joseon Skin Care Review

I find the brand name "Beauty of Joseon" really interesting. This brand is inspired by the aesthetic preferences of women during the Korean Joseon Dynasty who focused on taking care of their skin rather than covering it up with heavy makeup. The cult-favorite products feature hanbang ingredients (traditional Korean herbal medicine) that promote a healthier, brighter complexion. I always emphasize skin care more than makeup as I believe that a healthy, radiant skin will give you natural glow inside out. I will be sharing my thoughts on 5 Beauty of Joseon skin care products so read on!

Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence Water

Wow the color and scent of this essence water totally got me, I love ginseng (be it as food or skin care)! Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence Water contains 80% ginseng water and ginseng complex, so you can expect a full boost of nutrients to your skin. The healing property of ginseng is able to calm down irritated skin, even out skin tone and smoothen textured skin. Apart from this, the essence water is formulated with niacinamide, giving a deep and long lasting hydration to your skin. The light ginseng scent of the essence water is calming and soothing, I really enjoy it a lot! Texture wise, the essence water is pretty watery, just like a toner, so product absorption is a breeze without leaving any stickiness. 

Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum

Back in Joseon Dynasty, women used honey and grain powder as a wash-off mask pack, and this is how the inspiration of Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum comes from. Propolis extract (honey) is proven to be effective in soothing inflamed skin and providing long lasting hydration to skin. It also contains antioxidants to brighten skin tone and diminish dark spots.  

Housed in a simple, minimalist bottle, Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum is not a simple serum! The anti-inflammatory serum is designed for people troubled by large pores and inflamed skin. Containing 60% propolis extract, 2% niacinamide, and 0.5% BHA, the serum targets to control sebum secretion and keep acne at bay. 

The serum has a light yellow color due to the presence of propolis extract, it's not an artificial color! I used 2-3 drops of serum on my face and I like how the serum seals in moisture in a thin film. I would recommend this serum to people with sensitive and acne-prone skin, it does a great job in healing redness and acne. 

Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum Ginseng + Retinal 

And next we have a ginseng eye serum: Revive Eye Serum Ginseng + Retinal. I take my eye skin care very seriously so I'm thrilled to see such a high functional eye serum containing ginseng and retinal, can't wait to iron all my crow feet away!

Ginseng contains an abundant amount of saponin, hence it is a very effective ingredient in reducing fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, the eye serum is formulated with retinal which has been stabilized in the form of liposomes. In this way, ginseng can couple with retinal effectively to deliver the best anti-wrinkle and anti-aging results.

Revive Eye Serum Ginseng + Retinal comes in the form of yellow cream, it can be spread on skin effortlessly, just like a butter. The cream is emollient but it's not greasy and heavy on skin. This is one of the good eye creams that I have ever tried - it smoothens fine lines under eye, keeps your eye area well hydrated and at the same time does not feel heavy and greasy. I really enjoy using it and I wouldn't mind repurchasing one after finishing the current tube.

Beauty of Joseon Light On Serum Centella + Vita C

Light On Serum Centella + Vita C is a brightening serum that contains Centella Asiatica extract and Vitamin C. As its name suggests, the serum aims to provide comfortable moisturization without any stickiness. As much as I love Vitamin C products, many of them have a yellow tint and a tacky texture, causing the layering of sunblock and makeup very messy. Light On Serum Centella + Vita C has a unique formulation where its vitamin C derivatives are highly stable and will not cause dryness to your skin. The best part is, there is no yellow tint in the serum! 

Referring to the product texture photo (scroll upwards to see the photo), Light On Serum Centella + Vita C has a gel like texture and it's incredibly lightweight on skin. Another point that I would highlight is its packaging. The vacuum tube eliminates any potential cross contamination of the product, it also prevents direct contact of atmospheric air with the serum, hence ensuring the effectiveness and stability of Vitamin C. The tube is so small and travel-friendly too! 

Ginseng Moist Sun Serum

Another ginseng infused skin care: Ginseng Moist Sun Serum. The name of "sun serum" can be a bit misleading as I was scratching my head, trying to figure out if this is a serum or a sunblock. Ginseng Moist Sun Serum is not a serum, it is a SPF 50+ PA++++ sunblock. 

Texture wise, it is a yellowish gel cream that is lightweight on skin (scroll upwards to see texture photo). There is no white cast from Ginseng Moist Sun Serum, which is a plus point. Judging from its  extremely lightweight consistency, I was a bit skeptical on its effectiveness in blocking the UV light. I went and studied a little more about the product and found that the sun serum uses a Clear-Fence capsule formula, where the UV blocking filter and capsulated active ingredients are blended with the surfactant-free sun serum. Wow this is truly mind-blowing! This is why you should never judge a book by its cover! 

I tried the sun serum and worked under the sun for a couple of hours. I'm happy to report that the sun serum did a great job in protecting my skin from UV light, at least I don't observe any skin redness or worse, sunburn. I have tried many different sunscreen and Ginseng Moist Sun Serum is really one of a kind, its extreme lightweight consistency is rare and I would strongly recommend you to give it a try. 

All in all, Beauty of Joseon does live up to its name, I really love how they incorporate ancient beauty recipe into their product formulation.
