What comes to your mind when you hear the name of "Althea Korea"? For me, I will immediately relate to e-commerce website that offers a wide range of K-beauty products at the cheapest price in town, affordable beauty box and their in-house translucent and mattifying Althea Petal Velvet Powder. Packaged in simple yet classy frosted glass containers, the Bare Essentials range consists of 3 hypoallergenic products suitable for any skin types - Contour Cleanser, Primer Water and Fixer Cream. First thing first, I'm so in love with their packaging, minimalist design as usual and at the same time, looking elegant and sophisticated.

Bare Essentials range is specially designed to address a common problem faced by most of us, where we are often confused and fazed by the complicated 10-steps Korean skincare routine. I believe most of you has heard about the famous 10-steps Korean skincare routine, but are you really sure with each of the steps and procedures? On the other hand, not all of us has the luxury time to follow the time-consuming 10-steps skincare regime in the morning. I have to admit that I was confused with the product name of "Contour Cleanser" at the first glance, I mean, how could a cleanser be related to face contour? Based on the product description, it claims that the cleanser is able to promote blood circulation, reduces bloating and swelling for a defined, enviably slim face shape. Wow this is really interesting! This is the first cleanser with contouring effect that I have ever come across by far.
I'm not very particular when it comes to facial cleanser, I'll be happy as long as it does the cleansing job well and of course, it shouldn't dry out my skin. Althea Contour Cleanser is however, a cleanser that does a lot more than that. The cleanser lathers into a generous amount of bubbles and guess what, there are micro-capsules in it! The micro-capsules are so dense that my skin is gently exfoliated as I cleanse my face. Worry not, the exfoliating action of the micro-capsules is gentle and mild enough for daily usage. These capsules will burst upon contact with water, releasing Ice Plant and Lemon Myrtle extracts which provide soothing and detoxifying effect respectively.
Being sold at RM 23 for 150g, Contour Cleanser is super affordable and pocket-friendly, it's even cheaper than some of the drugstores cleanser! What I love the most about this cleanser is that not only it doesn't dry out my skin, it keeps my skin well hydrated after using. Thanks to the gentle exfoliating effect of the micro-capsules, my skin becomes so much smoother and softer after 2 weeks of usage. When I'm using Contour Cleanser, I stop my weekly exfoliation as I feel that the mild daily exfoliation is good enough to clear all my dead skin cells. Can you see how Althea simplifies the skincare steps by formulating a multipurpose Base Essentials range? *wink* However, I have not seen much significant result on the face contouring part. Well as a matter of fact, I can't afford to lose another gram on my face now, I need more flesh on my cheek so that I don't look fatigue and exhausted all the time.
STEP 2: TONING & PRIMING

A combination of hydrating toner and primer, Althea Primer Water is definitely a life saver for those who are always in a rush in the morning. In fact, I love multi-functional products - not only that they save your time, they are handy to be brought along for travelling too.
The Primer Water contains patented dewdrop technology (Macro Fluidic Dispersion technology) that gently fills the gaps between pores and allows hydration to penetrate deep within the layers of the skin. Made with Snow Lotus extracts, this skincare heavy hitter has an incredibly smooth and silky texture that enhances the skin’s natural glow, leaving you with the perfect canvas.
In contrast to the normal toner which is watery with low viscosity, the Primer Water has a thick consistency, just like a serum. Despite of its thick consistency, the Primer Water can easily be absorbed into the skin, all thanks to the dewdrop technology mentioned earlier. I was a bit skeptical with this product because down deep in my heart, I doubted that a toner can also be used as a primer. I thought this is just another gimmick, but I was wrong. The Primer Water did a wonderful job in serving the purpose of a primer. The Primer Water dries on my skin to leave a silky smooth skin finish, so smooth that I thought I have applied a silicone-based skin primer. To be honest, I'm extremely impressed. My foundation adheres to my skin seamlessly and the overall make up stays longer. Sorry Althea, for not believing in your products. XD
By the way, I'm absolutely in love with the fragrance profile of Snow Lotus - the sweet and fresh-pungent scent is so refreshing! I really like how the mild scent lingers on my skin after hours, it makes me feel so good throughout the day! I strongly recommend this Primer Water to everyone, you gotta try it out girls!
STEP 3: MOISTURIZING

Last but not least, we have Fixer Cream, a non-greasy and quick absorbing moisturize to wrap up the skin care regime.
