Ink N Water @Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru

Chilled at Ink N Water last year and I finally have the time to sit down and blog about it, better late than never, isn't it? *finding excuse for myself* I was torn between Cafe Racer by Grillbar and Ink N Water because both of the cafes are only a stone's away from each other and both of them are highly raved among the cafe hoppers. Since my friend wanted to try Ink N Water this round, we decided to save Cafe Racer by Grillbar for the next gathering.

I was totally amazed by this heavy and bulky door made from iron, it looks so rigid doesn't it? I like how the rust spread over the door in an aesthetic way, it looks so rustic and guess what, it smells rusty too!

These guli balls caught my attention effortlessly because they're shining so brightly due to the reflection of the sun light ray incident on them. The bench is very cute and unique but I can't help myself from doubting on its comfort. Confession, cushion is one of my basic needs.

The interior of Ink N Water is simple, clean and dim. The bar counter is my favourite spot in the cafe but I didn't get to sit there since we would like to have some private talk that day. It was a Saturday noon and we were the only table in Ink N Water, this is something unusual as cafes in JB are forever crowded, especially during the weekend. Well we can then enjoy our own space and take our own sweet time to chill here.

What do you do when you visit to a cafe that you have never been to? I will check on their cake display. Me being me, the variety and selection of cakes is my utmost concern whenever I visit to a cafe. However, I wasn't impressed by their cake display. Limited choices with different types of cakes being placed on the same tray. *opps*

Ink N Water Platter
RM 18

We ordered the signature platter which comes with fried calamari, truffle fries and chips, and we were really disappointed when the platter was served to our table. Five fried calamari - lima sotong goreng - 五个炸sotong, Are You Kidding Me?! On the other hand, the fries definitely were not fried with truffle oil because we can't find any trace of the truffle's signature smell. I'm willing to pay for good food but RM 18 for 5 fried calamari, few chips and a humble serving of normal fries? Come on, we are all not born yesterday and thanks to the poor quality of this Ink N Water Platter, we're not going to visit this cafe anymore. Well the other food might be tasty but I have not had the chance to try them out. Have you tried the other food from Ink N Water? Drop a comment and let me know!

Love,

  2. That's terrible - so that's why the cafe isn't brimming with people! And on a Saturday afternoon too! Tsk tsk...
