[Korean Culture] Hanbok [

The Hanbok is the traditional outfit of the Korean people. Koreans nowadays wear this outfit only on festive days or special anniversaries, however it was worn daily up until just 100 years ago. In the past, the type of Hanbok can show the society status of a person. Here are some pictures of myself in different types of Hanbok.
In the first photo, I was wearing a plain Hanbok made from cotton. The Hanbok is very plain and simple, without any prints and patterns on it. This is the most common type of Hanbok worn by most of the unwed women during the Joseon period.

Next, I was wearing another fancier Hanbok in the second photo. Similar to the first hanbok, this Hanbok is also made from cotton. However, this Hanbok is more colourful with nice patterns on it. This type of Hanbok is very popular during the late-Joseon among ordinary unwed female Koreans.

The Habok that I wore in the 3rd photo is no longer made from cotton. Instead, it was made from Ming silk. In addition, it's very obvious that the colour combination of the shirt is more colourful and fancy. This type of Hanbok is usually worn by rich women.

Last but not least, I had a chance to wear a really high class Hanbok which is made from pure silk, as can be seen in the last photo. The colour of the Hanbok is brighter, not to mention that the skirt and shirt were covered with traditional embroidery. Hopefully you have more knowledge on Hanbok now^^
